The balance between music, rhythm and sound has been captured by many artists and designers through image and medium. For this project we were limited to the use of typography.  I wanted to choose an important issue that could form the basis of a strong message. I searched through the library of punk rock lyrics for the perfect message. In Pennywise I found a simple message that was easy to digest yet not so subversive as to deter a regular citizen. Stylistically I wanted to combine the chaos and riotous feel of the punk rock movement with the look and feel and the bombardment of television news. I went with Helvetica as my main type choice as it is the type face of Fox TV and the type face of the scrolling news cast. I added the rich, self centered flair of Bodoni to complete the message of the “department of misinformation” or DM. If you attempt to follow along with the lyrics while listening to the song you can only do so for a short period of time, then you are left in the mosh pit.
